Built by a writer
for writers.
Humdraft started with a simple frustration: AI tools that flag every other student, freelancer, or marketer as a robot — and never explain why.
I’m a solo founder. I shipped Humdraft after watching too many friends — graduate students, content writers, indie marketers — get penalized by detector tools that confused careful editing with machine output. The detectors aren’t wrong to exist. But they’re blunt, and the cost of a false positive is paid by the writer, not the tool.
So Humdraft does two things at once. It rewrites AI-drafted text into prose with the rhythm and burstiness humans actually write with — and it shows you the detector scores before and after, from multiple detectors, so you can see exactly where you stand. No “trust us” verdicts.
Why bees?
Bees are the original drafters. They take raw nectar — sticky, watery, half-finished — and turn it into honey through patient, repeated work. Each pass through the hive thickens it, balances it, refines it. The end product is recognizably theirs.
Humdraft does the same thing with text. AI gives you a first draft of something. Humdraft passes it through the hive — repeatedly, patiently — until the rhythm, vocabulary, and cadence match how a person actually writes. Same meaning. Better hum.
Why we built it
Three reasons:
- Detectors aren’t going away. Universities, content marketplaces, and grading systems are deploying them at scale. Writers need a way to see their own scores honestly — and to fix the rhythm problems detectors flag — without paying for a half-dozen separate tools.
- The “undetectable AI” market is full of black boxes. Most tools won’t tell you which detectors they pass against, won’t show you scores, and absolutely won’t tell you what they did to your text. We will.
- Writers deserve their voice back. Especially non-native English speakers, technical writers, and anyone who edits AI drafts as part of their workflow. Getting flagged for using AI assistance to refine your own ideas is a tax on careful work.
What we won’t do
We don’t train models on your text. We don’t sell data. We don’t store drafts beyond 24 hours unless you opt in. And we won’t market Humdraft as a way to cheat — it’s a paraphrasing and readability tool for your own drafts. The acceptable-use rules in our Terms are not decoration.
What’s buzzing next.
One-click humanize on Google Docs, Notion, and Substack drafts. No copy-paste round trip.
Inline detector scores while you draft, with a hover preview of which sentences are tripping the scoring.
Drop a draft into a channel, get a humanized version + scores back. Built for content + creator teams.
The fine print
Humdraft is a product of Acumen Holdings. We’re a small, independent operator — no VC, no growth team, no “engagement” metrics. If you want to talk to the person who built this thing, email hello@humdraft.ai. I read every message.
